The USA’s opening match of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will take place in Auckland, New Zealand on Friday, July 21st at 9 pm ET.

The team will be led by the USWNT captains Lindsey Horan and Alex Morgan who are both veterans of the 2019 Women’s World Cup champions.

Earlier this summer head coach Vlatko Andonovski named the 23 players who will represent the United States in Australia and New Zealand later this week. A total of 9 players were a part of the USA’s 2019 squad.

“The task of selecting a World Cup Team is never easy, but I’m proud of the players for their work ethic and focus during the process and of our coaching staff for doing the work to put together the best team possible,” said Andonovski in a press statement on ussoccer.com.

For 2023, there are 14 players who will play their very first Women’s World Cup. Forwards Morgan and Megan Rapinoe are playing their fourth Women’s World Cup while goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher and midfielder Julie Ertz are set to play their third.

USA will play the entirety of the group stage in New Zealand at Edan Park which is also serving as the venue for the Opening Ceremony Thursday night. You can catch the US in their first game Friday night on FOX and Peacock.

The United States Women’s National Soccer Team previously won the World Cup in 1991, 1999, 2015 and 2019. Scroll below to see the 2023 Women’s World Cup schedule.
