Taylor Swift Gushes About Lana Del Rey Collaboration
Taylor Swift attends the 2022 MTV VMAs at Prudential Center on August 28, 2022 in Newark, New Jersey. Lana Del Rey attends the 62nd Annual GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on January 26, 2020 in Los Angeles, California.
Taylor Swift is gushing about her one and only confirmed collaborator on her upcoming Midnights album. In a video shared to Instagram, Swift described the inspiration for her collaboration with Lana Del Rey on âSnow on the Beach.â
The singer-songwriter captioned the post: “A little bit about ‘Snow On The Beach’ featuring Lana Del Rey. ps new special edition vinyls with hand signed photos in them are on my site NOW!”
ââSnow on the Beachâ featuring Lana Del Rey is track four on Midnights and I cannot get through that sentence without grinning because I am such a massive fan of Lana Del Rey,â said Swift in a fall-striped sweater dress.
The singer described the song as being about âfalling in love with someone at the same time as theyâre falling in love with you, sort of in this sort of cataclysmic, fated moment where you realize someone feels exactly the same way that you feel⊠at the same moment.â She described that moment as feeling like, ââWait, is this real? Is this a dream? Is this real? Is this happening? Is this really happening?â Kind of like it would be if you were to see snow falling on a beach.â
Though she said she would reveal more about working with Lana Del Rey in the future, Taylor did say that Lana is âone of the best musical artists ever. The fact that I get to exist at the same time as her is an honor and a privilege.â In fact, Taylor said she is âgrateful for lifeâ for the chance to work with Lana on the track.
Itâs not the first time Swift has had high such high praise for the “Young and Beautiful” singer. During her speech at the Billboard Women In Music 2019 event, Swift described Lana as âone of my favorite artists of this decadeâ and âin my opinion the most influential artist in pop.â
Taylor Swift’s 10th studio album Midnights is due out on Friday, October 21.
Taylor Swift Reveals 'Midnights' Tracklist, Lana Del Rey Collaboration
Taylor Swift has been teasing her upcoming tenth studio album Midnights since the night of the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28 after her win for Best Video of the Year for âAll Too Well (Taylorâs Version).” Via a fun segment on TikTok titled “Midnights Mayhem with Me,” Swift would reveal a track title from the album. To keep things random and fun for fans, the award-winning singer-songwriter used a bingo ball cage to randomly select which track title she would reveal. Numbered 1-13, the first track number she pulled was fittingly track number 13, Swift’s favorite number.
On Friday (October 7), Swift pulled her last and most shocking track reveal, track number 4. After admitting, “It’s been genuinely chaotic and I’ve enjoyed every second of it,” Taylor revealed the track is titled, “Snow On The Beach.” With a slight pause for dramatic effect, she adds, “featuring… Lana Del Rey.” The artist bashfully smiles and then hides away in the final episode of “Midnights Mayhem with Me.”
Taylor also shared a snippet of “the making of Midnights” on TikTok, featuring clips from being in the studio, playing piano, at home and other glimpses of her life.
Fans freaked out when they found out about Lana’s involvement in the album, with one person commenting, “QUEEN MOTHER LANA AND QUEEN TAYLOR.” Another wrote, “SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE DID.” Even the official TikTok account chimed in, writing, “this is literally the best ending to mayhem.”
Midnights will be released on Friday, October 21. Swift described Midnights as âthe stories of 13 sleepless nights scatteredâ throughout her life. âWe lie awake in love and in fear, in turmoil and in tears,â she shared. âWe stare at walls and drink until they speak back. We twist in our self-made cages and pray that we arenâtâright in this minuteâabout to make some fateful life-altering mistake. This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searchingâhoping that just maybe, when the clock strikes twelve⊠weâll meet ourselves.â
