Gwen Stefani Cried During Blake Shelton’s Wedding Vows
Gwen Stefani told Jimmy Kimmel last night (3/24) that when she heard Blake Shelton’s wedding vows in the form of a song, she cried. A lot.
Gwen explained to Jimmy that Carson Daly, who officiated the wedding in July of 2021, encouraged her and Blake to write their vows. She offered, “I know I write songs and stuff like that, but I just felt like, ‘I don’t know how to do that.’ It just felt so hard. I procrastinated till the last day.”
Two weeks before the wedding, Stefani suggested to Blake that they do the “read after me vows,” and Shelton told her that he already did his. Then cut to the wedding day, Gwen explained, “I finally got mine together; they were amazing, I nailed it. And I went first, and everyone was crying, and Blake looks at me, and Carson goes, ‘Well, try to top that one.’ And he (Blake) goes, ‘Well, you’re always at me. I don’t write enough music, so I wrote you a song. ‘And he pulls out a stool and a guitar and starts singing this song. and I’m like, bawww (crying sound) I had to do my makeup over before we did photos.”
Stefani also noted that despite her many rings, she shared that she accidentally forgot to wear her wedding ring to the late-night show. She said, “I forgot to wear my ring. It’s like the first time! I thought, ‘OK, I’m going to put it in the jewelry cleaner, so Jimmy sees how sparkly and amazing my ring is, and then hello empty finger.”
Gwen laughed and added, “I’m so embarrassed! I’m sorry, Blakey. I love my husband, and I love being married to him. It’s just the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me, so here we are.”
