Historic Somerset County Courthouse Green To Host Juneteenth Celebration
A Juneteenth celebration will take place at the Historic Somerset County Courthouse Green in Somerville on Thursday, June 17.
The event will feature an appearance by Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, elected county officials, musical performances, dramatic readings, and more starting at 6pm.
“We are excited and honored to have the Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver attend Somerset County’s first commemoration of Juneteenth,” said Commissioner Director Shanel Y. Robinson in a press statement. “I encourage everyone to come to this first-time celebration to have some fun while gaining a historic perspective and better understanding of Juneteenth.”
At this historic event, the public will hear the story of emancipation, resilience and brilliance told by experts and through performance artistry.
