Bruce Springsteen Releases New Track ‘Ghosts’
Bruce Springsteen is tugging at the heartstrings with his new song “Ghosts.”
The second track released from his upcoming studio album, Letter to You, the touching song pays tribute to late E Street Band members Clarence Clemons and Danny Federici, as well as Springsteen’s former assistant Terry Magovern.
Considering the inspiration, the lyrics of the track are understandability moving.
“The old buckskin jacket you always wore
Hangs on the back of my bedroom door
The boots and the spurs you used to ride
Click down the hall but never arrive
It’s just your ghost
Moving through the night
Your spirit filled with light
I need, need you by my side
Your love and I’m alive.”
Springsteen detailed his feelings further in his recent interview with Rolling Stone saying, “The loss of Clarence and Danny still echoes every day in my life. I still don’t believe it. I’m like, ‘I’m not gonna see Clarence again? That doesn’t sound quite possible!’ I live with the dead every day at this point in my life. Whether it’s my father or Clarence or Danny, all those people sort of walk alongside you. Their spirit, their energy, their echo continues to resonate in the physical world.… A beautiful part of living is what we’re left by the dead.”
Letter to You is due out October 23 and is currently available for pre-order digitally here. Exclusive merch and vinyl pressings can be found at BruceSpringsteenStore.com.
