The Amazing Acro-Cats Helped to Save Over 200 Cat Lives!

You may have seen The Amazing Acro-Cats performing at your local town.

The troupe, which consists of a bunch of felines perform a series of impressive talents. From playing music to performing acrobatic tricks, there’s nothing these cats can’t do.

Since 2009, the group’s founder Samantha Martin has been adopting cats to train. Over the years, Martin has saved around 200 homeless felines and transformed them into circus performers. Now, that’s something to meow about!

According to The Amazing Acro-Cats’ website, all cats are trained “through the use of clicker training.” This helps to give the kittens positive reinforcement during their performance. Martin, who studied animal behavioral sciences, has been a trainer for years. She has even helped to handle animals on a series of music videos, commercials, tv shows and movies.

Her career as the trainer for an all-cat performance group start when she realized how many cats needed help. She found a high-kill shelter in Chicago and decided to foster the kittens that were on the euthanasia list. Martin took home a total of 12 kittens that night. Needless to say, this action changed her life fur-ever.

Martin told the Huffington Post that she has fostered around 209 kittens. Some make their way onto the tour bus, while others go on to get adopted into a loving home.

The main reason why “a lot of cats are relinquished [is] because of behavioral problems and the reason they have behavioral problems is that they’re bored” she told the Huffington Post. Martin encourages to people to play with their cats and interact with them in a positive manner. By giving them attention, their behavioral problems will slowly dissipate.
