Megan Thee Stallion Might Be Hoping To Enter The DC Universe
Megan Thee Stallion delighted her fans (and maybe her friends and family) yesterday when she posted a series of images of herself as Starfire. She captioned the post, “Starfire Thee Stallion.” For those of you who aren’t huge comic book fans, Starfire was one of the original members of The New Teen Titans comic book, which debuted in 1980.
The New Teen Titans were an updated version of the Teen Titans, a team of superhero sidekicks. The “new” version added other characters who weren’t connected to older heroes. The team included Robin, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash, along with Changeling (who had formerly been known as Beast Boy, a member of the Doom Patrol). The New Teen Titans introduced three new characters: Raven, Cyborg and Starfire.
Starfire is an alien named Koriand’r, from the planet Tamaran. Her powers include flight, and she could shoot energy blasts out of her hands. She was also very naive to earth customs, which often led to funny situations.
On the live-action Titans TV series, she was played by Anna Diop. That series lasted four seasons before being canceled. On the classic animated shows Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!, she was voiced by Hynden Walch.
Megan’s post may have been prompted by the fact that it’s Halloween week. But is Meg vying to play Starfire in a future DC project? There have been rumors that the new DC universe will have some sort of Teen Titans reboot. Earlier this year, a fan asked DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, “Is it true that a titans project is looking to film late 2024?” His response: “No.” But that doesn’t mean that a project isn’t in development.
In fact, James Gunn commented on Meg’s post, saying, “Incredible.” Cardi B added, “Sexaaayyyyyyyyyy.” And one fan tagged DC saying simply, “CAST HER NOW.” Meg does have a few acting credits to her name: she was in the controversial Dicks: The Musical and made a cameo as herself in 2024’s Mean Girls reboot. And she’s even done a bit of work in the world of superheroes: she played herself in the Marvel TV series She-Hulk: Attorney At Law.
More immediately, Meg’s new documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, debuts on Amazon Prime tomorrow (October 31). It looks like it follows her through some real life dark times. Watch the trailer below.
