Sabrina Carpenter is under fire for her new album cover, Short n’ Sweet. The “Espresso” hitmaker announced her sixth studio album will be released this summer earlier this week.

However, when Carpenter, 25, shared the album cover artwork, fans recognized a French model’s work and accused her of copying it. The cover for Short n’ Sweet features the pop star’s blonde locks cascading down her back and a red kiss mark on her left shoulder as she looks over her shoulder at the camera. The back cover shows a close-up of a tiny “Short n’ Sweet” tattoo in script decorating her right shoulder.
“MY NEW ALBUM IS COMING OUT AUGUST 23rd!!!! [red kiss emoji],” Carpenter excitedly wrote across her social media accounts. “This project is quite special to me and I hope it’ll be something special to you too.”
The former Disney star then teased fans that a single and music video will be released on Thursday (June 6) night.

On X (formerly Twitter), people compared the cover art to French model Tiffany Collier, who shared a picture from an editorial spread she did back in 2018 with a similar look. The model, also platinum blonde, looks back over her shoulder, and a big red kiss is planted on the back of her shoulder. Though the model’s hair is braided and has a different expression, folks were quick to drag Sabrina’s cover.

One person sarcastically wrote, “love that sabrina carpenter recreated this iconic photograph for her album cover [heart eyes emoji].” Someone added, “And did a worse job of it [woozy face emoji].” A third slammed the artist and claimed, “Interesting this whole era has been her stealing [skull emoji].” Commented another, “She’s not the creative pop girl they want her to be [sobbing emoji] they always talking about her aesthetic and this this the second concept she rips off for this era.”
Calling out Carpenter’s previously-released tracks, one person said, “exactly, she’s the most basic pop girl rn. Nonsense sounds like an Ariana reject, Feather sounds like every pop song viral on Tik Tok, espresso sounds like a doja cat reject and now this ?? Why is she famous at this point? She’s a cheap copy.”
Despite the claims that she copied another creative’s work, Carpenter unveiled a short clip of her new single, “Please, Please, Please.” She is seen leaning against a wall as she sings the song’s title while wearing a sexy red lace dress. Snippets of the music video are shown, including what looks to be a heist, a jail cell, and some dangerous men. The lyrics in the teaser are: “Don’t bring me in tears when I just did my makeup so nice.” The artist added a black-and-white photo wearing a leather jacket and lace bralette with a necklace that says, “Please, please, please.”
