Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom’s Sober Pact: Here’s Why
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have been sober since making a pact in March. In a new interview with People yesterday (June 21), the American Idol judge opened up about what inspired her and her beau to be sober together.
Solidarity in Sobriety
She tells the publication, “For me, it was an opportunity to reset. We reset after President’s Day, and it was a great opportunity to just let my body bounce back a little bit. I’ve had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance.” The “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” singer has been sober in solidarity with Bloom, 46, for three months now.
The 38-year-old singer-songwriter explains, “We did this because he’s shooting a movie in London right now that’s taking every ounce of his focus, and so I wanted that opportunity to be supportive. It’s really hard to do anything, whether that’s doing a cleanse or a reset unless your partner’s doing it. So, doing it together makes it so much easier.” Perry says she doesn’t “really identify with any labels as far as sober or whatever.” However, she adds that she loves to “have my reset moments, especially being 38, balancing the intensity of my career and having a toddler who loves to run.”

Bloom and Perry have been engaged since 2019 and are parents to 2-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. Katy says that she’s “not really drinking” on weeknights, “but on the weekend, I’ll indulge a little bit.” She is a co-founder of the non-alcoholic, natural sparkling beverage company De Soi. Just yesterday, Katy took to social media to promote the brand’s latest flavor, Très Rosé.

The Grammy nominee is currently gearing up for the final legs of her PLAY Las Vegas residency, which wraps in November. Meanwhile, the Lord of the Rings alum is filming an upcoming action-thriller called Red Right Hand, alongside actress Andie MacDowell. The film follows Bloom’s character, Cash, who is trying to live an honest and quiet life, taking care of his niece Savannah in the Appalachian hills of Odim County. When the sadistic Queenpin Big Cat (MacDowell) who runs the town forces him back into her services, Cash learns he’s capable of anything—even killing—to protect the town and the only family he has left. As the journey gets harder, Cash is drawn into a nightmare that blurs the lines between good and evil.
