New Jersey Is Home To The No. 1 Golf Course In The U.S.
New Jersey is known for many things which include our amusement parks, the Jersey Shore, and golf! With close to three hundred different golf courses here in the Great Garden State.
You really have plenty of choices for where you want your next tee-off to be. However, one location is ranked nationally, and getting a membership is a challenge in itself.
Pine Valley Golf Club located in Camden County is ranked No. 1 in Golf.com‘s Top 100 Courses in the U.S. However, it is also one of the most exclusive clubs in New Jersey and maybe even the country.
Former members include Tommy Crenshaw, Gary Player, and even President George H. W. Bush. Those are just a few of the about one thousand names we know about as the list is a closely guarded secret.
The course built in 1913 is credited as being one of the toughest in the world and each hole is a masterpiece by well-known golf architects. Now the real question is how exactly does one become a member of this highly regarded club?
Well, it’s easier said than done as you must receive an invitation from the course’s board of directors, as for playing on the course you can play without being an official member. However, you must be invited and accompanied by one.
To top it all off if you want to play on the course, you must have low handicaps. Pine Valley does host a tournament titled ‘The Crumb Cup’ named after the founder of the course, even then visitors are not allowed to take photos or even bring in any type of video recorder or even their cell phones.
That just goes to show how much they want to keep the beauty and challenge of this course a secret. So would you be able to take on what is considered the best golf course in the world?
