In 1979, ABBA started a four week run at number 1 on the UK album chart with ‘Voulez-Vous’. This was the group’s fourth number 1 album.

In 1990, Madonna started a three week run at number 1 on the US singles chart with ‘Vogue’. The song was originally intended to be a B-side but it ended up becoming the singers 8th US number 1 and 7th UK number 1 hit.
In 2021,Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway To Heaven’ was named the UK’s favorite rock song in a survey by listeners to radio station Absolute Classic Rock.
Born on this day in 1992, Sam Smith. British singer & songwriter. He featured on Naughty Boy’s ‘La La La’ which was a UK number 1 in May of 2013 and scored the 2014 UK number 1 single ‘Stay with Me’, and won four Grammy Awards in 2015.
