‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ Will Indeed Air On Regular TV
2020 was supposed to be the first year since 1969 that the Peanuts Thanksgiving special would not air on regular TV after Apple TV purchased the rights to stream Peanuts holiday specials. But PBS announced that A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and A Charlie Brown Christmas will run ad-free on PBS and PBS Kids in addition to streaming on Apple TV+, as part of an agreement between Apple and PBS.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving will air November 22 on PBS and PBS Kids at 7:30 p.m., and A Charlie Brown Christmas will be broadcast on December 13 at 7:30 p.m.
ABC had the broadcast rights to the specials for the past 20 years. Prior to that, the specials aired on CBS.
A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving began streaming today (11/18) on Apple TV+ for subscribers and will also be available for free from November 25-27.
A Charlie Brown Christmas starts streaming Dec. 4 on Apple TV+ and will stream for free from December 11-13.
