Eminem Celebrates 12 Years Of Sobriety
Eminem went to social media last night to celebrate a huge milestone. The rapper posted a photo of his Alcohol Anonymous coin, which shows that he’s hit 12 years of sobriety.
“Clean dozen, in the books. I’m not afraid,” he captioned the photo of the coin with Unity, Service, and Recovery written on it.
Eminem has been posting his AA coins on social media for the past few years. Last year, he wrote, “11 years – still not afraid,” and the previously year he captioned his post, “Celebrated my 10 years yesterday.”
He talked about his struggle with addiction in an interview with the New York Times back in 2010. He explained his drug of choice, saying, “Vicodin, Valium and Ambien, and toward the end, which caused my overdose, methadone. I didn’t know it was methadone. I used to get pills wherever I could. I was just taking anything that anybody was giving to me.” He also revealed his motivation to stay sober. “My kids, and also I see a rehab counselor once a week. I’ve been clean for two years.”
