Billy Joel Delivering Commencement Speech at His High School
Colleges are usually the ones that get celebrity commencement speakers, but the class of 2017 at Hicksville High School in Hicksville, N.Y. are prime to get a very memorable speech tomorrow (June 24.)
Per Newsday, Billy Joel will be returning to his hometown to pass on his pearls of wisdom to the young grads.
2017 would mark 50 years since Joel was supposed to graduate from Hicksville High. Apparently, he was just one English credit shy from graduating, but in 1992, he returned to receive his long overdue high school diploma.
While we doubt Joel would perform at the ceremony as to not overshadow the graduates, how cool would it be if he played “Pomp and Circumstance” while the teen walked across the stage? Either way, graduation will surely be one to remember for Hicksville High School’s class of 2017 (and their parents, too.)
