We are just hours away from the New Year and that means people (especially those in Times Square) are working around the clock to make sure everything runs smoothly on December 31.
According to nyc.gov, an estimated one million people will be in Times Square to see the famous New Year’s Eve ball drop in person Saturday night with millions of others watching from afar nationwide.
The ball which descends from the flagpole atop One Times Square has been getting touched up for days now following the installation of its new crystal design. It weighs 11,875 pounds and is covered with a total of 2,688 Waterford Crystal triangles.
The official Times Square NYC website revealed that the 192 triangles introduce the new Gift of Love design represented by a circle of overlapping hearts entwined together.
