Fall Guide – Places To Go & Things To See
My First Visit To The New York Renaissance Faire Was Amazing and Here’s Why
To say I was excited to visit the New York Renaissance Faire in Tuxedo New York, is an understatement, as someone who has a special place in his heart for all things fantasy and historical, I never thought I would be able to go to such an amazingly detailed event. I could honestly go on all day about how much time and effort the team behind this project and community put into making it the best experience for all. To start we were able to see the queen and her court dance, when asked how much time do they take to prepare for their roles we learned truly how much dedication there really is among the cast, so if you were to see anything it would have to be this as well as the knight’s jousting tournament. Seeing it in popular shows like Game of Thrones you would think it would be no different, but it is! The anticipation as the knight's charge was honestly heart racing and of course seeing the happily horses roll around is always cute. Next, we watched Robinhood and his band of merry companions in action, another role that takes extreme dedication as you may be fighting with props, but without proper training or complete trust in your fellow actors' accidents can happen. So be sure not to blink and save some time in your schedule to watch these interactions between characters. We also saw a lot of amazing and delicious food, unfortunately I can only eat so much before being full, but one dish I was able to chow down on was a bread bowl with some of the best Mac and Cheese I’ve had in a while stuffed inside. For the meat lovers the Turkey leg is always an icon. However, we can’t mention food without paying respect to all the staff who work hard to serve guests. Even yelling out and ringing bells as someone leaves a tip. It truly keeps the immersion up for those who enjoy those sorts of things. Last but not least, we hit the shops and this is where it was the hardest for me to not spend every cent I had, I was able to buy some amazing looking gear and trinkets that are all made by amazing artisans from around the country. If I had to recommend anything it would be the leather armor shops. To make such detailed and high-quality looking armor it takes an expert. Though you honestly couldn’t go wrong wherever you go. Overall, I can say for sure that the New York Renaissance Faire is a one-of-a-kind experience that you enjoy with the whole family. They have rides, games, shows and happy memories to be made for all ages. It’ll be hard for me to not head back on over every weekend until October 9th. Especially for one of their themed events as I am now a full-on fan, but to buy your tickets as well as to check out their full list of shops, special events and any questions you may have, Click Here.
