If you take a look back at the last 12 months, which sports movies (if any) did you watch? You probably had one or two come to mind that made the top 20 most popular sports movies of 2022 list revealed by Gambling.com.

Earlier this month, the company analyzed Google search volumes across the calendar year while measuring different ‘movie’ related phrases such as “[movie title] movie”, “watch [movie title]” and “stream [movie title]”.

According to a press release, the Gambling.com team collated ‘best sports movies’ rankings from sources such as Rotten Tomatoes, IMDB, and Rolling Stone. 

The No. 1 movie in 2022 was King Richard with 1,368,000 online searches. It was highly rated by critics and audiences alike following its release in 2021. Coming in second place is the animated sports comedy Cars. Although it hit the big screen more than 15 years ago, it garnered 1,255,920 online searches for 2022.

The top 10 among the list of 20 you’ll see below as revealed by Gambling.com is dominated by movies from this century with the figures provided being the estimate of searches.
