Andy Grammer’s ‘She’d Say’ Video: How A Medium Helped Him Pay Tribute To His Late Mom
Grab the tissues because Andy Grammer’s video for “She’d Say” is a real tearjerker. Don’t worry, though, it will have you crying happy tears.
Grammer’s new video pays tribute to his late mom, Kathy, who died in 2009. As the video explains, Grammer got a chance to “connect” with his mom thanks to his wife, Aijia, who got him a phone call with a medium as a gift. It was during that call that Grammer says his mom instructed him to write a song for his two-year-old daughter, Louisiana, who she never got a chance to meet.
Specifically, she wanted him to write down what she would have said to her granddaughter if she was still around. “On the off chance that the universe really is this crazy,” he wrote in the lead-in to the “She’d Say” video. “I wrote it.”
Now, he’s dropping the video for the track, which features Ladysmith Black Mambazo, that honors his mom with a little help from Louisiana, who stars in the clip. “This is my daughter’s love letter from her grandma that she never got to meet in this world,” he told People, where the video exclusively premiered.
And now we’re all crying, right?
