Jenna Ortega Discusses Controversial Sex Scene
Jenna Ortega attends the "Finestkind" Los Angeles Premiere on December 12, 2023 in West Hollywood, California.
Jenna Ortega’s newest role has people in shock, horror, and disgust. A steamy clip has been making its way online of the Wednesday alum in an upcoming film titled Miller’s Girl. The R-rated dark comedy film follows the inappropriate relationship between teacher Jonathan Miller (Martin Freeman, 52) and his student, Cairo Sweet (Ortega, 21). Because of their 30-year age gap, a snippet from an intimate scene between Freeman and Ortega’s character has been called so gross and inappropriate online. “Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman… I’m uncomfortable,” wrote one person on X. Another said, “just thinking that jenna was in movies alongside paul rudd and martin freeman, who are about the same age, but in one she plays his daughter and in the other his ‘love interest’ which greatly disturbs me.” Another wrote: “It’s giving pedo vibes.”
The film’s intimacy coordinator, Kristina Arjona, is speaking out amid the backlash, assuring that Ortega was “comfortable” on set. Arjona described to the Daily Mail in a new interview how those scenes went down in the film, which is now in theaters. She stated that there were many crew members involved throughout the entire process, frequently checking in with the rising actress to make sure that it was “consistent with what she was comfortable with.” Arjona noted that Ortega was very determined and sure of what she wanted to do. The intimacy coordinator noted that she adapts to the comfort level of the actors, especially in cases like Miller’s Girl, where there is a large age gap between the actors.
Ensuring Everyone Is Comfortable
Arjona explained that she always checked in on the actors and made sure their boundaries weren’t being crossed. Additionally, they were given “continuous consent.” Ortega and Freeman had “simulated sex scenes,” where modesty garments were used as “additional barriers” to ensure that there was an “appropriate distance” between the two. Arjona added that the stars were able to “change their minds” about doing a certain “element” in an intimacy scene on the day of if they so wished. For this film, they had different variations of how they wanted to shoot the intimate scenes so that audiences could watch them at test screenings to see what was “too much,” Arjona explained.
The Hottest Celebrity Women Under 5'3"
They say that “good things come in small packages,” and with these celebrities, that statement holds true. According to Healthline, the average height for women in the United States is about 5 foot 4 inches tall. This average has increased slightly over time, and research relates it to the quality of nutrition in infancy and childhood. The study even links a population’s height to its standard of living.
Even in the fashion world, female fashion models used to have to be at least 5’9″ to get booked for gigs. In the age of inclusion, models of all heights and sizes are walking the runways and appearing in fashion spreads. For example, rising model Gabbriette Bechtel is only 5’4″. Her accomplishments so far include starring in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Nike, and Savage X Fenty, to name a few. She has also walked the runway for Vera Wang, Diesel, and Dsquared2, and has been featured in CR Fashion Book, Dazed, and Vogue.
For actors and singers, their marketability comes from their image in the cutthroat world of Hollywood. Height can play a factor when it comes to roles that want taller women, but for actresses like Salma Hayek and Lucy Liu who are 5’2″ and 5’3″ respectively, they have received many accolades for their roles in film. A number of short women have even won Oscars for Best Actress, including 4’10” Mary Pickford in 1929, 5’1″ Sissy Spacek in 1980 and 5’1″ Reese Witherspoon in 2005. Two time winners include 5’2″ Sally Field in 1979 and in 1984 and Jodie Foster in 1988 and again in 1991. These female stars don’t let their below average height stop them from being seen and heard in this competitive industry. In fact, some of these stars on this list are regarded as some of the most successful people in the entertainment industry.
