Viral Clip Sparks Debate: Is Anne Hathaway Rude To Fans?
A resurfaced viral clip of Anne Hathaway interacting with fans has sparked a debate on whether or not she was being rude. In the clip, the Devil Wears Prada star was greeting fans in Italy in the summer of 2022 after the Valentino fashion show. Wearing a glittering fuschia dress, Hathaway was seen leaving her car while a huge crowd of fans cheered her name and asked for selfies with the actress.
Noting that there were far too many people lining the streets to stop and take photographs with them all, Anne extends her arm out to the eager fans. “Calma,” she repeats in Italian a few times before approaching the crowd. “I cannot take photos with everyone. But I will stand here and wave if you would like to take a photo. I cannot sign, there’s too many of you,” she explains. Speaking in Italian again, the actress apologizes and adds, “But I want you to have something, so if you’d like I’ll just wave a little bit?” As one of the women agreed, she added, “Thank you for understanding. Thank you for waiting.”
One person continued to press for a photo with the star, but Anne shook her head and explained if she took a photo with her, she would have to take a photo with everyone else. “It’s too many,” she added. “But thank you so much. Grazie.” Giggling after, she said, “See you tonight” in Italian before the clip cuts off. As the clip also circulated on X (formerly Twitter) this week, fans debated over whether she was being polite or rude.
One person defended Hathaway, writing: “Very polite. Celebrities are not obligated to engage with fans.” Another agreed, writing: “Seems polite. She could’ve just walked away and snubbed them.” A third wrote: “I feel like she handled that well, especially if it was in-the-moment.” Another fan replied: “Absolutely not she’s being fair and personally I can respect her for what she said.” However, there were those who do not accept how she handled the interaction. One person included a clip from Joker with the comment: “Me, after having had waited 10 hours for a 5 second ‘Calma.'” Another commented: “Rude and fake polite at the same time.” A third replied: “I think she’s being what she is – an unlikeable narcissist.” A fourth chimed in: “With how long she took to he condescending, she could possibly have signed and took the photos. She was being unnecessary.” Another replied: “Is ‘condescending’ an option?”

America’s 50 Favorite Actors Of All Time Ranked By Positive Opinion
Audiences know them from long-running TV series, big-time movie openings, and indelible stage performances. They’ve made viewers laugh, cry, and jump from their seats in fright. The best actors in the world have the power to move audiences in ways that few others can—which is why making a list of the absolute best is never an easy task.
Any list of the best needs to be backed up by numbers. So in order to compile a set of America’s 50 favorite actors of all time, Stacker analyzed data from YouGov, with polling conducted between November 2017 and October 2018. First, they measured the level of online activity related to a set of actors to determine which 50 should be included in a survey, with responses weighted to be nationally representative. Then, they ranked those 50 actors from low to high by a percentage of survey respondents with a positive opinion of said actors. Ties were broken by the actor with a lower percentage of negative opinion responses and a higher percentage of “have heard of” responses.
The result is a list of thespians, including Oscar winners, box office juggernauts, and some of the “sexiest men alive.”
