Selena Gomez Leaves Social Media (Again)
Selena Gomez attends the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards at The Beverly Hilton on January 07, 2024 in Beverly Hills, California.
Selena Gomez is taking another break from social media. Following the weekend’s Golden Globes, rumors swirling between Gomez and Kylie Jenner and her boyfriend Timothee Chalamet had the internet wondering what went down that night. Some people thought Kylie blocked Selena from saying hi to the Wonka star. Meanwhile, Timothee shut down any beef between Kylie and Selena. Selena herself addressed the rumors, saying she was telling Taylor Swift that two of her friends had hooked up, “not that that’s anyone’s business.”
On Tuesday (January 9), the singer and actress, 31, revealed in an Instagram Story that she was “focusing on what really matters,” written in the corner of a video of her record producer boyfriend Benny Blanco having a playful moment with two young children. “I’m off social media for a while,” Gomez added. One person wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “twitter if there was an award for micro-analyzing selena gomez” with a clip of a frantic Emma Stone running for her award that night. Another person on X called out Gomez on her social media “breaks,” writing: “Someone on Reddit said they think Selena Gomez thinks a social media break is when you close the app and I think that’s exactly right.” Another person commented: “see you tomorrow.” Meanwhile, another person wrote: “same energy as ‘i’m never drinking again’ yea okay.”
Just a few months ago, in September, for the MTV VMAs, the “Calm Down” singer was captured reacting to moments during the awards show and clapped back at “never” being a meme again. The Only Murders in the Building star has never been shy about taking breaks from social media. In October, she revealed on her Instagram Story that she would be stepping back from her socials “because my heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror that’s going on in the world.”
