Paul Rudd Responds to Sexiest Man Alive Criticism in the Best Way
Paul Rudd had the best response to The New York Post after the publication said he did not deserve the “Sexiest Man Alive” title.
The 52-year-old actor received the honor from People magazine last week.
A few days before Rudd was officially named this year’s winner, Page Six (which is operated by The New York Post) incorrectly ran a story claiming that Captain America star Chris Evans would be named instead. When the publication later wrote about Rudd’s win, the outlet ran a story with a headline reading: “Sorry, Paul Rudd is many things – but the Sexiest Man Alive is not one of them.”
During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert yesterday (November 15), the host asked Rudd how he found out about winning the title this year, to which he said he got the news via e-mail which he recounted as, “Congratulations, there’s been an error in the judging…”
The New York Post, as Colbert said, “wasn’t as generous.” After telling Rudd that they said the title was going to go to Chris Evans, Rudd said, “Well, that makes certainly makes sense.” He added, “Hey, that might be the first thing I ever read in The New York Post that I agree with. That is not fake news.”
Colbert also showed The Guardian’s published story accompanied by the headline: “Do you fancy Paul Rudd? You’re either a sociopath or a liar if you say no.” Rudd responded to the positive headline saying, “Well, I would like to thank The Guardian, first of all, for hiring my mom.”

Rudd will next be seen in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, in which he stars opposite Bill Murray, Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace and Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard. The film is slated for release this Thursday (November 18).
