Tony Bennett Is Battling Alzheimer’s Disease
Tony Bennett and his family are opening up about his battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
AARP magazine has reported that the legendary singer first showed symptoms of the disease in 2015 and was officially diagnosed in 2016 at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.
“Life is a gift- even with Alzheimer’s. Thank you to Susan and my family for their support, and @AARP The Magazine for telling my story,” Bennett shared on social media.
Although Bennett has kept this a secret for quite some time, he continues to keep up with his music career. It has been confirmed by AARP that the 94-year-old has recorded a new album with Lady Gaga which is being prepared for release this spring.
“Singing is everything to him. Everything. It has saved his life many times,” Susan Benedetto (Tony Bennett’s wife) told AARP.
