Spongebob Squarepants: Did Nickelodeon Announce That He’s Gay?
A tweet from the official Nickelodeon account today led to more speculation that their Spongebob Squarepants character is gay. The tweet had an image of Spongebob, along with two other characters (Schwoz Schwartz from Henry Danger, and Korra from the Avatar spin-off show Legend of Korra), said “Celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month.”

While many have interpreted this to be a confirmation that Spongebob Squarepants is gay (as many fans speculated that he is), Nicelodeon didn’t quite say that in the tweet, although it’s certainly a confifmation that he is an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.
Still, social media had a good time discussing the matter.
