Kara Kaldawi is an Assistant Professor at the Harold B. and Dorothy A. Snyder School of Nursing. Professor Kaldawi obtained an A.A.S from Middlesex County College in Edison, B.S.N. from Kean University (College), and a M.S. in Adult/Gerontology Nursing from Rutgers University. She is currently completing coursework towards a PhD in Nursing Education from Walden University. Professor Kaldawi is certified in Medical Surgical and as a Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Professor Kaldawi is an active member of Rutgers University Alpha Tau Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Her research interest includes the development of students clinical reasoning and decision making at the bedside.
Professor Kaldawi has extensive experience across settings in medical surgical nursing including a step-down ventilator unit. She has had a variety of hospital positions as well as in long term care. Professor Kaldawi has also provided primary care to seniors in an urban community setting. She currently teaches both didactic and clinical medical surgical concepts in the second Nursing course and has taught in both the LPN Transition program and Accelerated program. She has also participated in the Boot Camp for High School Seniors.
