What Happened In This Booth?
Those who have not watched the show might not be aware of the significance of “The Booth”. It was the sixth and final season of The Sopranos, and the show was coming to an end. Tony, who has made plenty of enemies in his lifetime, is meeting his family for dinner at Holsten’s.
As the family starts gathering, the setting is accompanied by Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing — which is now forever linked to this moment. Next, Tony is carefully watching people coming in and out of the diner. He looks down for a moment, and looks up, just as Journey’s Steve Perry says “Don’t Stop”– CUT TO BLACK.
This moment had fans wondering what happened. Cable companies were blowing up with angry customers because they thought their cable cut. Show creator David Chase as still not provided a clear answer to the ending. It is up to the interpretation of the viewer.
Some fans suggest Tony was finally whacked — references a conversation he had with his brother-in-law, Bobby Bacala, where he says “You probably don’t even hear it when it happens.”
