Beyonce Teases ‘The Lion King’ With Striking New Photo
On Tuesday, Beyonce took to Instagram to share a striking new photo teasing her new upcoming film, The Lion King, where she portrays the voice of Nala.
The “Pray You Catch Me” singer shared a photo of herself looking towards a lion with her 128 million followers on the social media platform.
The highly-anticipated live-action version of the iconic film that stars Beyonce and Donald Glover hits theaters on July 19.
In addition to playing Nala, the 23-time Grammy Award winner has also created new music for the movie as confirmed by director Jon Favreau.
“It doesn’t replace anything. We have all the original songs, but there’s a song that [Beyonce] performed and wrote in the spirit of the production along with working with Lebo M., who’s part of it with Hans Zimmer,” Favreau said during an interview with Fandango.
“They were all collaborating with her and helping to bring this new piece of music into a film where there’s already a very established musical personality to the piece. So it was nice of them to have them working with her to allow the new song to feel organically a part of the new production.”
The Lion King‘s soundtrack arrives a week prior to the film being released on Thursday, July 11.
On Tuesday, Walt Disney Studios released The King Returns Featurette which gives a first-look glance at the making of the film, both theatrically and musically.
