Amazon Warehouse Employee Discovers Cat Stowed Away in Box
Cat Stowed Away!
Brandy Hunter, who works in a warehouse in the customer returns department for Amazon, discovered a stowaway in a taped closed box in the back of a trailer full of items being returned to Amazon. Brandy, this Amazon worker, is doing her thing, sorting through returns like it’s just a normal business day when suddenly, out of nowhere, she hears this tiny meow. Brandy is like, “What the heck?” Lo and behold, there’s a cat chilling in a taped-up shoebox, smack dab in the middle of a trailer full of returned goodies.
How Did This Happen to This Cat?
According to USA Today, the cat’s owner, Carrie Stephens Clark, said “She had jumped/hidden in one of our Amazon return packages without us knowing. ” Clark also said “She was mailed to a return center in California and trapped in a box and trailer for 6 days.” This furry Houdini, named Galena, pulled off the ultimate disappearing act. Galena snuck her way into one of their Amazon return packages, which was a taped shoebox, without anyone noticing. Galena is form Utah but next thing you know, she’s getting shipped off to a return center in California, 1,400 miles away!
The Cat Gets Out of the Box
Luckily for Galena, the seam on the side of the shoe box split open so Galena could breathe. Brandy took Galena to the vet to be checked out. The vet was happy to report that aside from dehydration and weight loss, the cat was healthy. It was almost a miracle that the weather temperature was not too hot so the cat could remain healthy. How amazing that after traveling so many miles in a shoe box, the cat did not have any broken bones!
Galena Reunites With Owners
This story could have had a tragic ending, but luckily everything was aligned. The vet discovered that Galena had a microchip the size of a grain of rice. Her owners were called and they drove to pick up their little furry baby. Carrie Stephens Clark, hopes pet owners will get their pets microchipped if they can. And “triple check your Amazon boxes!” Clark said.
