The organization also tweeted that “5 providers were chosen to receive funding based on cities they have called home.” Care Resource recently thanked Wade and Union as well via Facebook. “We are so grateful to Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union-Wade who have made a donation to support healthcare for the LGBTQ community during the COVID-19 crisis,” the organization wrote.
“We are one of the five providers they chose to receive this funding based in cities where they have lived. COVID-19 is affecting the lives of our most vulnerable patients. This donation will allow us to extend our critical services and ensure no one goes without care during this difficult time. Many thanks to the Wade family for their incredible generosity!”
The Los Angeles LGBT Center, One World Community Health Centers, Inc, and Vivent Health were also among the organizations that received donations from Wade and Union.
This year, the couple made headlines regarding their open support of Wade’s daughter, Zaya Wade who came to them and expressed that she wanted to be referred to using feminine pronouns. Ever since the couple has been very vocal about supporting the LGBTQ community while also sharing what they’re learning along the way, which as garnered the couple some praise as well as backlash.
