A young child was hit and killed by a train at the Jersey Shore Sunday afternoon. The train left the Long Branch station around 4pm heading south bound to Bayville. At around 4:30 pm, the juvinille was struck and killed at Forman Avenue on Route 35.

As of right now, NJ transit hasn't released any other information regarding the name, age and gender of the child. There were no other casualties due to the accident as all passengers and crew left the scene unharmed. Right now, the Point Pleasant Police Department and the Ocean county's prosecution office are investigating the situation.

To avoid any other heart breaking stories like this, I did some digging and learned that NJ.Gov has railroad safety tips that you should share with your children so they are always being safe and paying attention when around railroad tracks.

Safety Tip #1

Always expect a train. Trains operate on one or more tracks at any time in either direction.

Rural Regions Hope For Broadband And 5G

TANGERHUTTE, GERMANY - APRIL 11: A woman on a bicycle waits at a railroad crossing in the town center on April 11, 2019 in Tangerhutte, Germany. Tangerhutte township, which includes both Tangerhutte and over a dozen nearby villages and is located in Stendal county, is struggling with issues that many rural communities, especially in eastern Germany, are facing, including a declining population, poor Internet infrastructure, limited economic opportunity and the ongoing consequences of German reunification nearly 30 years ago. "We need fibre optics and 5G," says Mayor Andreas Brohm, who sees widespread, high-speed Internet access as the single most important factor to help Tangerhutte return to prosperity. While the German government has made digitalization nationwide a priority, many rural communities still lack dependable digital access, which impedes both local businesses and the ability of communities to attract younger generations who moved away to return. The average age of residents in Tangerhutte is 60, and while Brohm says more young people are now returning than are moving away, the town has only one birth for every three deaths.
