What were you taught in school about slavery in New Jersey?

Did you know the Garden State was the last northern state to abolish slavery and we did it gradually? Or that at one time 15% of the population of Somerset County were slaves, 10% of Middlesex & Monmouth Counties.

James J. Gigantino IIMaggie Glynn talks with Jim Gigantino about his eye-opening book The Ragged Road to Abolition, Slavery & Freedom in New Jersey 1775-1865.  Gigantino, a Central Jersey native is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Arkansas.
