South Brunswick PBA Local 166 will take on the NJ State Fire Hockey Team on March 14 at ProSkate Arena. This charity game raises money for Make-A-Wish New Jersey. Called Goals for Wishes, it puts officers against firefighters in a showdown to collect the most donations for kids facing critical illnesses.

According to Patch.com, the puck drops at 5 p.m. The arena sits at 1000 Cornwall Road in Monmouth Junction, and doors swing open at 4:30 p.m.

Both squads will battle on ice while competing to gather funds. Whichever team brings in more donations before the final buzzer gets crowned winner, with that announcement happening at the game itself.

Every dollar goes to Make-A-Wish New Jersey. This group grants wishes to children who have been diagnosed with critical illnesses. More than 70 kids receive a critical illness diagnosis each day across the United States, according to the organization's data.

Studies the group cites show that granting a wish can help children build physical strength and emotional resilience needed to fight what they're going through. The program serves young patients throughout New Jersey who confront life-threatening medical conditions.

Tickets cost $20. Kids age 5 and younger get in without paying.

People can send donations ahead of time by scanning a QR code printed on the event flyer. The fundraiser works to support wish grants for young patients statewide.

ProSkate Arena hosts the matchup. The venue provides home ice for this fundraising game between the law enforcement squad and the firefighting crew.
