Taylor Swift's "The Fate of Ophelia" from her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, shot to number 8 on Billboard's Pop Airplay chart. The track broke into the top ranks just two weeks after its release on October 3.

This single crushed records. Neither Swift's "Shake It Off" nor Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" made it past number 12 in week one. The new hit struck gold across three Billboard charts at once — climbing the ranks in Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay, and Adult Contemporary, the first track to ever do so.

"That one, just as soon as we wrote it, I had a feeling it would be the one that we'd go with first and the one I'd get to make a music video for," Swift said, as reported by Billboard

The numbers tell quite a story. Swift now stands at 27 top 10 hits on Pop Airplay, with only Rihanna ahead at 30. She stretched her lead on Adult Pop Airplay to 33 top songs. The Adult Contemporary list now shows 20 Swift hits in its top ranks.

Radio stations couldn't get enough starting day one. The song debuted at number 8 on Adult Pop Airplay. It also claimed the number 10 spot on Adult Contemporary — a first-time achievement for Swift on that chart.

Other tracks from the album made their mark as well. "Opalite" claimed spot 34 on Pop Airplay. The titular song with Sabrina Carpenter grabbed number 38, while "Wi$h Li$t" took number 39. Radio stations have also picked up the edited version of "Wood."

The full impact of The Life of a Showgirl hit the Billboard 200 chart Oct. 14, with the album claiming the number one spot, per Billboard.
