It’s that time of year when we all strip down and plunge into the Atlantic Ocean. If you’ve never done you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s exhilarating, refreshing, and COLD!

However, could it be too cold?

The Waco, Texas Polar Plunge has been postponed because it’s not warm enough. It was also originally set for tomorrow, now the plunge is going to take place on March 1st due to freezing temperatures.

You may be wondering, “How can you cancel a Polar Plunge because it’s too cold? That’s the point of the event!” I’m thinking the same thing. That’s like postponing a swim meet because they didn’t expect there to be water. They should just have it in the summer to be safe.

The temperature in Waco is expected to be 44 degrees, while the temp in Jersey will be in the mid-30s with a water temperature in the upper-30s, perfect for the event.

Seaside Heights Polar Plunge

So, needless to say, the 32nd annual Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights that benefits Special Olympics New Jersey will go on as scheduled tomorrow, February 22 at 1:00 pm.

This year’s charity event is on pace to be one of the largest in history providing necessary funds to support programming and opportunities for thousands of Special Olympics New Jersey athletes.

The 32nd annual Polar Bear Plunge at Seaside Heights is presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run and benefits Special Olympics New Jersey athletes.

You can be one of nearly 8,000 dedicated fundraising plungers who are expected to take a dip in the Atlantic. It’s Special Olympics New Jersey’s largest single fundraiser of the year.

Check-in and onsite registration opens at 9:00 am with the plunge happening at 1:00 pm. The walk-up registration fee is $125.  It’s on the main beach between Webster and Dupont Avenues.

Even if you want to participate as a spectator, you’re also welcome to join the fun.

Wawa is the official coffee partner of the Polar Bear Plunge in Seaside and will be providing free coffee and hot chocolate.

For over 55 years, Special Olympics New Jersey has provided year-round sports training and athletic competition in 22 Olympic-type sports for thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities, completely free of charge.

Through the joy and power of sports, athletes are provided opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in sharing gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

5 Epic Saturday Morning Cartoons From the 80’s

Back in the ‘80s, Saturday mornings were sacred. It was the one time of the week kids had the TV all to themselves. No parents yelling about chores or bills, no news anchors going on about politic. Just pure kid fun in the form of cartoons. These weren’t just any cartoons either; these were shows so epic, they made waking up early on a weekend feel worth it. If you were lucky, you’d grab a bowl of your favorite sugary cereal, plop down in front of the TV, and let the magic happen.

In the ‘80s Saturday morning cartoons had it all! Action, comedy, and sometimes a random PSA about how not to be a jerk to your friends. They had characters you wished you could be, like a sword-wielding hero or a cool mutant turtle with ninja skills. The stories were wild, the animation was colorful (for the time), and the theme songs? Certified bangers. Seriously, some of those intros still live rent-free in my head decades later.

The best part? These Saturday morning cartoons shows had no shame in being completely over the top. They’d mix robots with dinosaurs, throw in some aliens, and add a plot about saving the planet for good measure. But that’s what made them awesome, they were ridiculous, and we loved them for it. Even now, thinking about those Saturday mornings hits me with a wave of nostalgia so strong I can almost taste the Cap’n Crunch.

Here's My List Of Top 5 Saturday Morning Cartoons:

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe

He-Man wasn’t just jacked—he was the guy. Fighting Skeletor in a world of magic and monsters, He-Man made you believe yelling “By the power of Grayskull!” could fix anything. The show was cheesy but in the best way.

Transformers

Robots turning into cars, planes, and everything else? Genius. Optimus Prime was the dad you always wanted, and Megatron made being bad look cool. It was the ultimate battle of good versus evil with explosions.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Four mutant turtles trained in martial arts by a giant rat? Sure, why not! They ate pizza, kicked butt, and had catchphrases like “Cowabunga!” What’s not to love?

ThunderCats

Lion-O and the gang brought a mix of sci-fi and fantasy to your screen. With their epic battles and that wild “ThunderCats, ho!” battle cry, they had you hooked. Plus, Snarf was everyone’s weird little sidekick.

G.I. Joe

“Knowing is half the battle!” If you watched G.I. Joe, you probably still say that line. The team of elite soldiers fought Cobra and taught life lessons at the same time. A true classic.
