New Billy Joel Exhibit “My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey” Opens This Month
MAY 19: Billy Joel performs at Nissan Stadium on May 19, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame has been planning this for almost a year. They have officially announced the first-ever exhibit dedicated exclusively to Billy Joel.
The exhibit will open on November 24th at LIMEHOF’s Stony Brook Museum in Stony Brook, NY. The exclusive exhibit, called Billy Joel- My Life, A Piano Man’s Journey will showcase over 50 years of Billy Joel’s most cherished items. It’ll include rare memorabilia, behind-the-scenes video, dozens of awards, rare audio and video recordings, vintage instruments, and historic photos. Many of them were donated by Billy Joel and have never been seen before in public.
“We are thrilled and honored to present the Billy Joel exhibit everyone has been waiting for. Billy Joel – My Life, the Incredible Story of A Piano Man’s Journey from Long Island to Worldwide Acclaim,” said Ernie Canadeo, LIMEHOF Chairman. “Billy has been very cordial and involved in the planning, and it is appropriate the exhibit is on Long Island, where he has long been identified, written so many songs, and lived most of his life. It is a fitting tribute to Long Island’s most successful entertainer and is guaranteed to thrill his legions of fans.”
This exhibit, the second since the museum opened in November of 2022, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Billy Joel’s life-spanning career from his roots in Hicksville/Levittown through his albums, tours, inspirations, and personal experiences.
“It has been a thrill and an honor to work with Billy in creating this extraordinary testament to his life and music,” said Kevin O’Callaghan, LIMEHOF Creative Director. “It is one of the highlights of my long career and I’m sure visitors will be thrilled with the result.”
Tickets are available for sale at TheBillyJoelExhibit.com. This is a timed entry exhibit so tickets will be sold by time block availability, or you can purchase VIP “any time” tickets good any time for the duration of the exhibit. For more information about LIMEHOF visit limehof.org.
Taylor, Stevie, Elton and Billy Announce Record Store Day Releases: Get the Full List
You need to dust off that turntable unless of course you’re like me and you’ve never stopped using it. Either way, Record Store Day has announced its list of exclusive releases for 2023. The event only happens in independent record stores on April 22.
Record Store Day is an annual event that was first held in 2008 to celebrate independent record stores and the unique culture surrounding them. The event takes place each year and typically features a variety of exclusive releases, in-store performances, and other special events.
The purpose of the special day is to draw attention to the importance of independent record stores as cultural hubs and to encourage people to visit and support them. In recent years, the event has grown in popularity and now includes thousands of participating stores in countries around the world.
Releases typically include limited-edition vinyl records and other merchandise from a wide range of artists. Some of these releases are previously unreleased recordings, while others are special editions of classic albums or compilations of rare tracks.
Some recommended Central Jersey record stores include Spina Records in New Brunswick, Revilla in Milltown, and Princeton Record Exchange.
Here are a few of the limited edition vinyl albums that will be hitting these local record stores…
Joel Katz is the Morning Show Personality, Assistant Program Director, Podcast Host, Voiceover artist, audio producer, and Digital Content Writer for Magic 98.3. Joel runs at least 3.1 miles every day and enjoys playing basketball, doing laundry, saving his turn signal for when he really needs it, kissing dogs through a fence, using coasters, making that cool noise by rubbing his fingers on balloons, and chasing after ping pong balls on a windy cruise ship.
