Feeding Central Jersey in November: Franklin Food Bank Busier Than Ever
First Monday
As you may know, on the first Monday of each month we invite a representative from the Franklin Food Bank to the studio. We talk about many things, and it’s always to encourage people to donate, volunteer, and help our fellow neighbors who are dealing with food insecurity.
Thanksgiving is Just a Few Weeks Away
November is extremely busy at the food bank. Throughout 2023 Franklin Food Bank has been serving 52% more families than last year. Last year was extremely busy on its own. In 2022 they had families come through their pantry over 11,000 times.
By the end of September, the number of visits they had was already over 13,000. They’re on track to finish out the year with closer to 17,000 visits if they just do the average each month. The awareness and promotion of the program, plus the atmosphere they’ve created have led to more families finding the Franklin Food Bank. This has led to a larger demand.
Support Needed
Your help and support are needed to make it happen for our neighbors in Franklin. The Franklin Food Bank is serving more clients than ever before. They simply can’t do it without the community’s support.
During Covid, the government had a lot of programs to support nonprofits. That funding is all gone but the food bank remains and is busier than ever. More than 50% of their funding comes from individuals like you and me.
In a few weeks, you will receive their appeal in the mail. We ask that please give generously to this appeal if you can. You can also join their Ambassador Program and give all year long. The Franklin Food Bank will be doing a matching campaign during the week of Giving Tuesday (November 28th) that will enable you to double your impact.
Community Distribution
Remember that today, Wednesday, November 1st, and the first Wednesday of each month. Their Community Distribution is at the Franklin Township Police Department’s Community Relations Bureau starting at 11 am.
