Stapleton sings Collins’ tune, with Snoop adding the football-themed rap and Blackman Santana adding her take on the iconic “In The Air Tonight” drum break.
“We just wanted to make sure we heard everybody’s voices – whether it was the fans’ voices, whether it was the artists’ voices, whether it was staying true to the ‘Monday Night Football’ brand over the years,” video producer Rico Labbe told USA Today Sports. “We just wanted to make sure we meshed all that together. It could be a challenge. But we think we hit the sweet spot.”
Stapleton shared a preview of the opening on social media before the game. The full clip post by ESPN includes NFL players and game highlights.
The new theme made its debut last night on Monday, September 18, as part of Monday Night Football‘s “Two Games One Night” special airing on ESPN and ABC.
Phil Collins’ version was released in 1981 on his debut solo album “Face Value.” It’s been said that Phil wrote the song about a year earlier when he was going through a divorce with his then-wife Andrea Bertorelli.
Phil has commented that the song came from a lot of frustration, despair, and anger. The rumor that Phil has denied to be true is that the song is about a drowning. Someone is drowning and another is there and able to save them but doesn’t, and watches them drown.
5 Quarterbacks Who Could Replace Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets
It’s been a few days since Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury occurred, but it’s still all anyone is talking about in the NFL. I feel really bad for both Rodgers and the Jets. Rodgers may not be the NFL’s most well-liked quarterback, but there’s also some natural hate that comes with being on top, so Rodgers has had to deal with that his whole career. I don’t blame him for having a chip on his shoulder, if he does. Also, the Jets thought they finally had their perfect fit for a quarterback in Rodgers. There was so much excitement around him coming to the Jets. Then, within the first five minutes of Rodgers’ first game with the Jets, he got injured. So, his season is over. You can’t make this stuff up, kids. So, who could replace Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets?
A lot of different names are being brought up in regards to the Jets’ new quarterback. According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini and CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, the team is not interested in bringing on two of the rumored players to join the Jets: Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick. Moreover, Jordan Schultz has also stated that Kaepernick’s agent actually reached out to the Jets. But, they’re saying it’s a no for Brady and Kaepernick. Even so, I’m including Brady on this list, because there is still a lot of speculation around him surprising people and possibly stepping in for Rodgers.
I hope that whoever the Jets brings on does well for the team, because they deserve to have a good run. I also hope Rodgers heals up completely. It would be a shame for that play on Monday to be his final play of his career. Read on for five quarterbacks who could replace Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets.
