Britney Spears Unveils Memoir Title and Release Date

Britney Spears is finally ready to tell her story via a new memoir. The book's publisher, Gallery Books, recently told People that the memoir will be called The Woman in Me. The publishing company acquired the memoir after a bidding war among multiple publishing houses. Senior Vice President and Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom told the publication that the book will be "the publishing event of the year."

She adds that the pop star's "compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery." She compared that to the impact she predicts that the memoir will have. Bergstrom said Gallery Books "couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last." We first reported Britney's $15 Million book deal with the company last February. Her younger sister Jamie Lynn Spears, 32, released her book the month prior, titled Things I Should Have Said. During the promotional campaign for that book, Britney fired off a cease and desist letter "from referencing Britney derogatorily during your promotional campaign."

In May, Spears said her “tell-all” book would be available by the end of 2022. She wrote in a since-deleted post on Instagram: "I want to talk about secrets!!! The secrets I’ve had to hold the past 15 years I will say are honestly paralyzing. I had so many complaints I wanted to share and bring up only to be told to keep shut … but wait isn’t that what a woman of intellect is supposed to do. Speak up, rise to the occasion make people think."

The Woman in Me is available to pre-order and is set to come out on October 24. According to the book's official site, it is "written with remarkable candor and humor." The "Till The World Ends" singer shared the announcement on Instagram last night. "It's coming... My story. On my terms. At last." Leading up to the official announcement, Britney told her 42 million followers that she worked her "a-- off," and it took "a lot of therapy" to get the book done.

Just before her memoir announcement Wednesday, Spears, 41, addressed the Vegas incident with the Spurs' Victor Wembanyama in a video on Instagram. The singer said no matter how famous you are, "no woman deserves to be hit." She then demonstrated how she was hit by the top draft pick's security. Spears also stated she received an apology, though it was at her table 30 minutes after the incident. She is calling for a public apology to be made by 19-year-old Wembanyama.
