The 61-year-old comedian and television personality said the Queen of Pop, 64, is "good" and "recovering at home." Following the news of the singer's hospitalization for a "serious bacterial infection" last week, O'Donnell gave an update to fans on Instagram asking for an update on the singer's health.
“She is recovering at home — she is very strong in general,” O’Donnell replied to one follower. Another concerned fan wrote, "God bless her hope she’s ok, I don’t care about the tour [smiling crying emoji]." The former The View host responded, "[red heart emoji] She’s good." Last Wednesday, Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary, revealed that she had been battling the bacterial infection just weeks before her Celebration World Tour was slated to launch. The singer's tour has been canceled until further notice. It was supposed to begin in Vancouver on July 15.
Warning Signs
“She ignored some symptoms of illness for quite a while because she thought they would go away. But she didn’t want to take time away from rehearsals," a source told People earlier this week. "She was run down and not feeling 100 percent for a while in anticipation of her tour. She is relentless in her quest to be the best, to wow her fans, and to do what others before her have not done." A second source added at the time, "Madonna has been very busy for a long time and not taking care of herself. She just continues to push herself beyond the limit."
Oseary told fans that though Madonna's health is improving and a full recovery is expected, she is still under medical care. He promised more details, including a new start date for the tour, and rescheduled shows will be coming as the information is available. By the next day, a source told the publication that she was "back home and feeling better."
Just four days before she was hospitalized, Madonna shared rehearsal photos on Instagram: "The Calm Before The Storm………" she captioned the behind-the-scenes look at her set.
Rosie and Madonna's Friendship
Rosie's positive update came after she posted a photo of herself sharing the screen with Madonna in 1992's A League of Their Own. In the movie, Madonna plays dancer Mae Mordabito, while O’Donnell acts as her best friend Doris Murphy, both of whom join the Rockford Peaches baseball team during World War II. "Remember when? #league #mo," O'Donnell captioned the post.
