I know a few vegans who are looking forward to a different choice of flavors when it comes to dairy-free ice cream. The latest dairy-free ice cream product launch could be made with potatoes. Potatoes are super veggie powerhouses, packed with vitamin C, potassium, iron and fiber! Even better news, for you to get all that nutrition, you do not have to peel any potatoes! I scream, you scream, we all scream for potato ice cream!
This new vegan ice cream is getting ready to hit the market. A Swedish company called Veg of Lund is working on a potato-based frozen treat. DUG Drinks, has announced a patent approval for an ice cream made with potatoes, rapeseed oil, and a vegetable protein emulsion. The patent currently just covers Sweden, but the makers have said that they’re hoping for international protection soon. The company launched a potato-based smoothie, which also has a Swedish patent, in 2022.
Although I am not a vegan, I love any type of potatoes and am looking forward to trying this innovative new flavor. What's the most interesting plant-based food you have eaten?
