‘The Walking Dead’ Spinoff Series Filmed In Bergen County
AMC’s The Walking Dead spinoff Dead City — formerly known as Isle of the Dead — filmed in New Jersey last year.
The post-apocalyptic horror drama had shoots at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, according to the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission per NJ Patch. Other filming locations are throughout North Jersey, NJ.com reported.
“It’s truly an exciting year for The Walking Dead Universe,” president of entertainment and AMC studios at AMC Networks Dan McDermott said in a news release per NJ Patch. “This next phase of our beloved franchise promises to engage and enthrall faithful viewers.”
The series stars Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as fan-favorite characters Rick Grimes and Michonne. AMC says Lincoln and Guira’s reunion will show an “epic love story of two characters changed by a changed world.”
“Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead… And ultimately, a war against the living,” the network said.
“Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?”
Dead City is set to debut on AMC and AMC+ next year.
