A recent study analyzed data covering knowledge tests, Insured drivers, DUIs, deaths, gas prices, clear days, and license holders to reveal the safest place to drive across each state.
New Jersey ranks 6th on the list making it the 6th safest state to drive. Hard to believe considering the drivers we run into, figuratively speaking, every day. With 50 states across the United States, it may come as no surprise that each feels different to drive in, but just exactly which ones are the best and safest for drivers?
Well, to find out just this the team at BetGeorgia.com have created an index based on various factors including knowledge test pass mark, insured drivers, and gas prices. New Jersey just missed out on a spot in the top five, with a total score of 55.502 out of 80 in the index.
For this campaign, two datasets have been created. The first ranks US states based on how good they are at driving.
The driving index considers 9 different factors. All US states were ranked and given an index value between 0 and 10. These values were then summed to provide a total score for each state, which was then ranked. Here are the factors… The percentage of the total population with a driver’s license. The percentage of total marks required to pass the driving test. The percentage of drivers who are insured. The number of DUIs handed out per 100,000 drivers. Normalized by giving a high score to a low value, and a low score to a high value. The number of deaths per 100,000 people. Normalized by giving a high score to a low value, and a low score to a high value. The average price of a gallon of gas. Normalized by giving a high score to a low value, and a low score to a high value. The average number of days annually when clouds cover 30 percent of the sky during daylight hours. The minimum age required to get a learner’s permit, and the minimum age required to get a full license.
