The NY Post says a pair of new home buyers requested the seller's cat when they went to closing. Tori Taillac says the cat liked her and her fiancé when they were touring the home. “Most people ask for money or appliances during the seller concessions phase of buying a home,  instead we asked for one of their cats. We are completely smitten with the grumpiest looking but sweetest cat I have ever met. He rolled onto his back, looking for rubs. So, I’m all into petting this cat,  and that night we made an offer on the home.

I made a joke when he mentioned that he was going to leave us an air purifier. I said, ‘You can leave us a cat, too. I love your cat.’ The owner’s ears perked up because he said he’d been worried about moving his young cat Loki to a smaller home after the cat was used to having more space. He said he thought Loki would prefer to stay in this house because he [the owner] was going to be downsizing,” Taillac said. He [Loki] loves to be outside and he is always chasing lizards. On [the seller’s] counter offer to ours, he dropped the price down. But he said, ‘I’ll include the cat and the air purifiers.’”

Their dog, seven year old Marcus loves his new adopted sibling. Their realtor said that this was the first time this had ever happened.

The Golden Globes 2023 Nominations

The 2023 Golden Globe Awards will air live on NBC and Peacock on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 8 PM ET. It is one of the few awards ceremonies to recognize both motion picture and television achievements. As we've previously reported, NBC canceled the 2022 telecast amid an ethics, finance and diversity scandal involving the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, the organization that bestows the awards. Citing extensive HFPA reforms in September, NBC agreed to return the ceremony to its air for an 80th installment — under a one-year trial, the New York Times reports.

“We recognize the HFPA’s commitment to ongoing change and look forward to welcoming back the Golden Globes to NBC for its landmark 80th Anniversary in January 2023,” said Frances Berwick, Chairman, Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. Helen Hoehne, President of the HFPA added, “The HFPA remains committed to important changes and supporting programs that prioritize diversity, inclusion, and transparency. See you on January 10!"

The HFPA recently announced the introduction of 103 new voters to its ranks, marking the first time international-based voters have been added to the voting pool. This diverse voting body is now represented by 62 different countries around the world. Combined with the current HFPA membership, the total Golden Globe Awards voting body is now 52% female, 51.5% racially and ethnically diverse, with 19.5% Latinx, 12% Asian, 10% Black and 10% Middle Eastern.

Proceeds from the broadcast provide funding for the HFPA’s philanthropy and charitable giving programs. This year, the HFPA awarded more than $4.5 million to 93 programs and organizations. These donations support a diverse range of nonprofit organizations that help underserved communities and programs, as well as universities and colleges. In addition, the grants support film restoration projects both in the United States and overseas, as well as journalism programs that provide aid and assistance to journalists across the globe.
