Our snarky signs set us apart from everyone else and show our unique personality! In my opinion, the witty signs brighten the day for millions of motorists, while also getting the point across. Putting a bit of attitude, and humor, into traffic signs shows its point in a playful way.
The NY Post says the Federal Highway Administration has ordered New Jersey officials to stop putting up funny electronic messages to motorists. Some of the programmable highway signs have contained funny warnings like "Hold onto your butts" and "Get your head out of your apps."
The banned bulletins also included tributes to Bruce Springsteen and other icons from New Jersey such as signs on 78 reading " Slow Down This Isn't Thunder Road". The feds did not say why they pulled the plug on the signs.
Some believe they were causing distractions because people wanted to photograph them. Let us keep up with our humorous signs, please! - Maryann Morgan
