N.J. Go-Kart Track With 45 mph Speeds Plans December Opening
A New Jersey go-kart has finished its infrastructure and will soon be opening in the upcoming months, Supercharged Entertainment announced on social media last week.
Surface work on the huge go-kart track is complete with the course set to open sometime in December. Supercharged Entertainment plans to begin hiring staff this month.
“The track surface is done,” Supercharged Entertainment said in a Sept. 24 Facebook post.
The complex is slated to open in early December on Route 1 South in Edison next to Topgolf Edison, the company said, per NJ Advance Media.
The total combined track length is over a half-mile long, the company said in a social media post. The max track width comes in at 26ft with plenty of room for passing. 13 left turns, 12 right turns, and 10 elevation changes. Not only will this track be New Jersey’s largest indoor go-kart track, the company touts it as the world’s largest. The go-karts will be able to reach speeds up to 45mph for guests over the age of 15.
In addition to the massive racetrack, the 131,000-square-foot complex will have 19 axe-throwing lanes, an arcade with 140 games, an immersive virtual reality area, bumper cars, a Drop-and-Twist tower ride, a restaurant, and two bars, the company said, per the outlet.
Supercharged Entertainment told the publication that it “hopes the multi-level track in New Jersey will become a vacation destination for travelers arriving at airports in Newark and New York.”
The entertainment company also owns a go-kart arena in Wrentham, Massachusetts, and another one in Oakdale, Connecticut. The other locations also have axe-throwing as well as a host of other games.
“The owners are always looking to do things bigger and better,” Malcolm Jones, general manager of the facility in Massachusetts, said in an interview in August, per NJ Advance Media. “The lot (in Edison) was just what we needed. It really just boiled down to its close proximity to Newark and New York City.”
