Coming to a Theater Near You: $3 Movie Tickets for One Day
The Cinema Foundation wants everyone to know about National Cinema Day. The event takes place on September 3rd and is a one-day industry promotional deal that makes three-dollar movie tickets available at over 3,000 theaters.
Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the slowest weekends in theaters. In hopes to lure moviegoers during a quiet spell at the box office, a majority of American theaters launched “National Cinema Day” with hopes that by holding this awesome promotion, major chains including AMC and Regal Cinemas, are hoping they could flood theaters with moviegoers and potentially prompt them to return in the fall. In participating theaters, tickets will be no more than $3 for every showing, in every format. This event as just a trial but if it proves successful it could become an annual event. Just think, we will be able to tell our grandkids, “Back in my day, I paid $3 for a movie ticket!” Let us hope for their success!
