Mike McGinn Talks With Wine Expert Dr. John A. Brewer
Many of us love to come home and pour ourselves a nice glass of wine to wind down our day, but do we truly understand wine and everything that goes into making it? I decided to sit down and have a conversation with wine expert Dr. John A Brewer who was raised on a cattle ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas.
John received his Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Arkansas. He spent twenty years building high-tech companies in integrated circuits, solar energy, and superconductivity and he took his high-tech education and experience and combined them into the wine industry. He established Wyldewood Cellars Winery in 1995 to make his family farm more profitable.
Wyldewood Cellars is the largest and most awarded Winery in the state with over 700 International Awards in twenty-seven years. In 1997, because of the success of his wines in International Competitions, he became the first Professional International Wine Judge in the State of Kansas and has judged several International Wine Competitions every year since then.
I think it’s safe to say, Dr. Brewer knows a thing or two about wine and it was an honor to have him join me for a quick chat about the industry and what goes into making great-tasting wine!
