Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society is excited to participate in the Gannett Foundation’s grantmaking and crowdfunding program, A Community Thrives, and have the chance to win grants to help it continue nurturing needy animals and educating the public.

A Community Thrives aims to bring neighborhood improvement ideas to life. Participating non-profit organizations are competing for operating grants starting at $2,500 each, in addition to project-specific grants. Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society will use any funds received to provide food and medical care for local pets in need, as well as provide educational materials and programs on a variety of topics. Last year, the organization was awarded a total of $10,000 through A Community Thrives.

To qualify to receive funds, Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society must raise $3,000 from now until August 12. The organization invites its community to partake in its fundraising campaign, named Help Meowt, by donating through the organization’s A Mighty Cause website, found here: https://www.mightycause.com/organization/Karma-Cat-And-Zen-Dog-Rescue-Society. Donations must be made through the website to count toward the $3,000 goal.

In addition to web donations, Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society has partnered with Playa Bowls for a delicious and summery fundraiser event on Friday, July 29. Playa Bowls’ South Brunswick location will donate 15% of all sales that day to the organization’s A Mighty Cause website. Those who are interested in participating can visit Playa Bowls from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 3000 NJ-27, Unit 6, in South Brunswick Township. No special code or flyer is required.

“We’re thrilled to participate in A Community Thrives,” said Krystal Hasard, Executive Director at Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society. “It’s a beautiful thing when the community rallies to support itself. Whether you donate online or by enjoying a sweet treat, together we can continue to make a positive impact on the animals that need our help the most.”

About Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society: The mission of the Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society is to provide a safe and peaceful haven for homeless, abandoned or abused animals. We will help decrease the number of cats and dogs being destroyed in kill shelters through the work of our foster, spay/neuter, trap-neuter-return, and education programs. The vision of the Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society is a world where every companion animal is respected, fed, warm, happy, and not in danger of being killed because it is temporarily homeless.
