CNN says many large retailers like Target and Walmart are considering paying customers to NOT return their unwanted items.
The companies have been receiving a huge influx of inventory that they cannot afford to store. Under the plan, retailers would hand customers their money back AND let them keep their unwanted items.
Burt Flickinger, retail expert and managing director of retail consultancy Strategic Resource Group told CNN that "it would be a smart strategic initiative" and that "retailers are stuck with excess inventory of unprecedented levels."
