Age Discrimination Study
A new study by the University of Oklahoma reveals that joking about someone’s age can be harmful to their health. Researchers studied over 2,000 seniors before concluding that demeaning comments about aging can result in depression, anxiety, lower job satisfaction, and poor self-esteem. Psychologists say joking about “senior moments” and making backhanded compliments like “You haven’t aged a bit” are forms of microaggression that do more harm than good.
